Basically the story goes that there is this boy (above) named Ichigo Kurosaki & he can see ghosts. Well one mean Hollow (Horo, a human spirit that cannot find rest & has fallen to the dark side) attacks him because of his high energy level & a Soul Reaper (Shinigami, a resident of the spirit world called Seretei or Soul Society, whose Job it is among other things, to protect humanity from Hollows) named Rukia Kuchiki (Lukia, above) comes to save him, gets distracted & wounded; her only hope of survival is to give Ichigo her Shinigami powers - & that is the beginning of one wild ride! Wify bought me 12 seasons & 3 movies of this on DVD & it's awesome!
Isshin Kurosaki, Ichigo's father is Karakura town's doctor. He spends his free time sparing with Ichigo & for the most part, loosing. He loves his family more than anything & does his best ever since his wife died. It is revealed that he used to be a Shinigami in the past...

Inoue Orihime (above), Ichigo's classmate has a major crush on him but never says it out loud; & Ichigo is so oblivious (reminds me of me) that he doesn't even notice. She has a sheild, healing, and attack powers that are tied into these little fairies that transform into her hairpins. Although where she got those powers (if she is related to some other characters in the story) hasn't been explored/ explained yet.
Chad Yasutora (Sado, above), always has Ichigo's back; even when Ichigo's power level surpassed his by a huge gap, he never gave up on training to be useful to his friend. The loyalty points on this guy are off the charts.
Uryu Ishida, is a human from a particular clan of Hollow-Killers (the Shinigami try to purify the Hollows with their Zanpaku swords, sending them to Soul Society) called The Quincy (an almost extinct race of methodical expert bowmen who could detect Hollows & take spirit particles (rinkos) from the atmosphere & transform them into energy arrows for their bows). He has this attitude problem but he always has the good of everyone in mind. He is really handy with a needle & thread.
He even patched up Kon (King) once - supplying him with the stylish Quincy symbol on the back of his head - lol.
Ichigo removes from the stuffed animal & ingests the pill containing the artificial soul & Kon will animate his body while Ichigo is in astral form being a Shinigami.
Kon is a stuffed animal that is animated by an experimental artificial soul - he has a defective (know-it-all braggart who is lustful, lazy & cowardly) personality that slated him for destruction & has been on the run from the authorities of Soul Society's Gotei 13 Squads.
Jinta & Ururu, the crumbsnatchers hanging out at Urahara's Shop - surprisingly for small children, they have high power levels.
Kon was created by a renegade Shinigami named Urahara (pictured left with his assistant Tessai behind him, Ichigo called him "Hat & Clogs Guy") - He used to be a squad captain but didn't appreciate the politics of Soul Society. He trained Ichigo for a while & his wisdom & skill is called upon throughout the series. His hat is so cool I bought one for myself.
This guy Don Kanoji comes in for comedy relief - he thinks that he is a powerful Spirit Warrior, but really he is just lucky.
