This is my 2nd favorite anime of all time, it continues the story of Goku, from Dragonball, (Dragonballs are magic items, when all 7 are collected you can summon a dragon who can grant you a wish) an alien with incredible power who was adopted by a kindly martial arts master named Gohan. The thing I like about Goku is his purity - once in the dragonball series he was attacked by a power that would turn any evil that the victim posseses against him & cause him pain, however when Goku was hit with the attack he felt no pain because he doesn't have an evil bone in his body. Also his determination is admirable as he always rises to face any challenge, no matter how high the odds are stacked against him. Dragonball Z starts off with Goku's evil brother, Raditz threatining the earth - after he is defeated one after another more & more powerful enemies come against Goku only to be defeated - then there is an andriod named Cell who kills Goku & his son Gohan manages to defeat Cell. Goku has a habit of turning some villans into freinds, some however will never stop their evil ways, but Piccolo, Ti'en Shinhan, The Ox King (His wife Chi-chi's father), to name a few have met Goku & came away a better person for it. Even Vegita - someone with a heart as black as obidisan was able to find some good qualities in himself as a result of meeting Goku.
